Tom’s Experience hiking to Inspiration Point:
There are a few different options available to reach Inspiration Point in Grand Teton National Park. My wife and I decided we would start at Jenny Lake and walk to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point.
The trail starts at Jenny Lake and follows the shore along the lake. The water kept the temperature cool and there was a lot of green vegetation around.
Eventually we met up with the trail from the boat dock for those who would like to take the shuttle across Jenny lake. This trail is dirt but starts gaining altitude at this point and soon becomes a rock trail.
We stopped for a picture by Hidden Falls and then kept following the trail up to inspiration point.
From Hidden Falls to inspiration point you are mainly walking on rocks and it is a really interesting trail. You have a great view of the Tetons from the trail and at inspiration point you are able to look out over Jenny Lake.
The total trip without the boat shuttle is 5 miles and about 417 vertical feet. Dogs are not allowed on any trails within the Grand Teton National Park.
Trail Info: The trail for the Inspiration Point hike starts at the Jenny Lake parking lot in Grand Teton National Park. The trail is very well marked and very well maintained. There is a boat shuttle to take you across the lake for a small fee or you can hike from the parking lot which is 5 miles round trip.
