Tom’s Experience hiking to Lewis Peak:
Lewis Peak is to the east of Ogden City. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this hike.
The first two miles towards the summit are really steep but very pretty as you hike through a forest of trees. After that, it almost seems downhill to the summit but shade is very limited.
The summit over looks Ogden and is a great place to stop and rest for a while.
The trail is very well maintained and is open to mountain bikers and motor bikers.
The first part of this trail is part of the Southern Skyline Trail. Dogs are allowed on this trail.
Trail Info: Take North Ogden Canyon Road to the top of the North Ogden Divide. There is a parking lot on the south side of the road. Park there and take the trail that is south of the parking lot that starts heading uphill and eventually under some power lines. After that there are signs at most forks which tell you the distance and way to Lewis Peak.
